Job summary

Interfor Corporation is seeking a Relief Production Supervisor in Thomaston, GA, to provide cross-departmental leadership across the mill and gain exposure to sawmill, planer, kilns, and maintenance operations. You will rotate across shifts, support safety and production targets, and develop supervisory competencies with mentorship from the Production Manager.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration in a thriving manufacturing

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Forestry, Wood Products, Engineering Technology, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, industrial, forestry, or wood products experience is considered an asset.
• Previous leadership experience, formal or informal, is considered an asset.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and provide coverage across departments as required.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a long-term leadership career within Interfor.
• Strong interest in leadership and operational management.
• Desire to build a career in sawmill operations with progression into supervisory and management roles.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in different departments and on varying shifts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead by example and influence others positively.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervisory coverage across departments, shifts, and operating areas as required.
• Support production, maintenance, quality, and operational teams in meeting safety, production, recovery, and quality targets.
• Build working knowledge of all major manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows throughout the sawmill and planer operations.
• Assist with employee training, coaching, and development.
• Develop an understanding of scheduling, workforce planning, and shift operations.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in special projects and operational initiatives that support mill performance.
• Gain experience in sawmill operations, trimmer, sorter, and stacker operations, planer's mill operations, maintenance planning and execution, quality control and optimization, boilers and kilns, environmental, health, and safety programs, leadership and employee development.
