Job summary

Hood Lumber seeks a PLC Technician to support mill operations by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC-controlled electrical, instrumentation, and process systems. The role focuses on maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations in a growing sawmill environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification is a plus.
• 2+ years of industrial PLC experience.
• Manufacturing experience; wood products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical machinery and control systems throughout the plant.
• Diagnose and resolve PLC, electrical, instrumentation, and process control issues.
• Interpret PLC logic and modify to improve equipment performance.
• Implement and support new control systems and upgrades for efficiency.
• Coordinate work with production and maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain backups for computer systems and PLC programs.
• Set up test equipment and document results.
• Provide technical support during installations and projects.
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately.
