Job summary

Hood Lumber, a division of Hood Industries, Inc., seeks a skilled Controls PLC Technician to join our Silver Creek lumber mill. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, program, and maintain PLC-controlled systems to ensure safe and reliable production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification a plus.
• 2+ years of industrial PLC experience.
• Manufacturing experience required; wood products preferred.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
• Knowledge of industrial electricity, motor controls, VFDs, and AC drives.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willing to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical machinery and control systems across the plant.
• Diagnose and resolve PLC, electrical, instrumentation, and process control issues.
• Interpret PLC logic and modify to restore or improve equipment performance.
• Implement and support new control systems and upgrades.
• Coordinate work with production and maintenance leadership to minimize downtime.
• Maintain backups for computer systems and PLC programs.
• Document test results and calibrate equipment.
• Provide technical support during equipment installation projects.
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and environmental regulations.
