Job summary

Vaagen Bros. Lumber Inc. seeks a Maintenance Planner to support Colville sawmills and coordinate maintenance activity.

The role focuses on planning labor, equipment, and parts to keep maintenance work on schedule and production flowing. You will use CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo, Business Central) and liaise with internal crews and outside contractors to ensure timely completion. The ideal candidate will have lean experience, strong analytical skills, and a proven ability to improve reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP PM, Business Central, Maximo).
• MS 365 applications proficiency.
• Strong project management with deployment track record.
• Knowledge of maintenance management and asset lifecycle.
• Analytical mindset for data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate labor, equipment, and parts needed to complete each maintenance-related job.
• Review incoming work requests, clarify scope, establish priority, and maintain a ready-to-schedule.
• Identify, reserve, kit, and stage parts and materials before scheduled work begins.
• Schedule outside contractors in coordination with maintenance personnel and department heads.
• Understand maintenance skill sets of team to assign best-fit jobs.
• Maintain records of work performed.
• Aid the maintenance department in implementing best practices.
• CMMS super user: teach and train others.
• Configure CMMS to meet needs including work order management and asset tracking.
• Ensure parts inventory processes are followed and supported.
• Provide data to track metrics and achieve maintenance and production goals.
• Provide a single contact for all in-process, urgent, and scheduled work.
• Know, understand, and apply Lock-out Tag-out procedures.
• General sawmill duties as needed.
• Assist with and cross-train team members.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Ensure tools and supplies are in home locations.
• Maintain communication with team members.
• Fulfill requirements for maintenance requests and Idea Cards.
• Other duties as assigned.
