Job summary

Ernest-Spencer, Inc. is seeking a Saw Operator for the 1st shift in Meriden to cut metal sheets, plates, bars, angles and pipe using a Piranha Saw. The role requires reading blueprints, setting correct angles, and maintaining tool safety and quality.

Experience preferred; responsibilities include blade changes, material type identification, cooling system maintenance, and strict adherence to safety protocols. This is a full-time, non-management position in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred in saw operations.
• Ability to read blueprints and translate angles to machine setup.
• Ability to safely change blades and maintain the cutting area.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Piranha Saw to cut metal sheets, plates, bars, angles and pipe.
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications.
• Set stops and angles per blueprints to ensure accurate cuts.
• Safely change saw blades and maintain the cooling system and fluid mix.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain quality throughout production.

SAW OPERATORS (Piranha Saw) for 1st shift in Meriden

EXPERIENCE preferred!! General Responsibilities:

• Operates saw tocut metal sheets, plates, bars, angle and pipe.
• General knowledge of how to write a program and pull up an existing program on the saw computer.
• Operator must possess the skills necessary to convert the angle shown on the blue print to the appropriate angle that is needed on the computer.
• Inspects work for conformance to specifications.
• Must be able to distinguish different types of material.
• Must be able to set a manual stop to achieve accurate cut lengths in a consistent manner?
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to properly and safely change the saw blades on the machine.
• Must be able to distinguish which blade to use for each type of material.
• Must be knowledgeable about the cooling system for the saw. Keep the water tank full. Know the appropriate mix of water to cutting fluid.
• Must be aware of safety considerations for operating machine.
• Must be able to examine parts for quality.
• Other duties may be assigned.
