Job summary

General Plastics & Composites, LP in Houston, TX is seeking a Saw Operator to set up and operate wet, band, and circular power saws, cutting raw materials to specified lengths per work orders and engineering drawings. You will install blades, verify tolerances, and maintain quality and safety standards in a modern manufacturing facility.

We value hands-on experience, strong detail orientation, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating industrial power saws or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read work orders and engineering drawings.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Experience using measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality.
  • Preferred: previous manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Preferred: experience with composite materials, preventative maintenance, forklift or material handling.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate wet, band, and circular power saws.
  • Cut raw materials to specified lengths and contours using work orders and engineering drawings.
  • Install appropriate saw blades based on material type.
  • Set stop gauges, saw speeds, and indexing mechanisms for accurate production.
  • Review work orders, drawings, and inspection requirements before beginning each job.
  • Verify finished parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Monitor material quality and report defects or non-conformances.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company health, safety, and quality procedures.
