Summary: Identify and pull from inventory raw material for production. Operate power cutting equipment to prepare material according to work orders. Operate automated and manual cutting equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic workpieces according to specifications.
  2. Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools.
  3. Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
  4. Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
  5. Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
  6. Mounts workpiece in holding device, manually or using hoist.
  7. Operates saw to cut along scribed lines.
  8. Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices.
  9. Selects proper material from work order and verifies wall thickness.
  10. Deburs and cleans parts before issuing to different departments.
  11. Works independently and provides management/lead function and can operate multiple cutting equipment.

Education/Experience:

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word Processing, Adobe and Internet software.
