Staffmark Group in Santa Fe Springs, CA is seeking a Saw Operator to set up and run metal-cutting band saws, cutting ATR and round bar to precise specs. You’ll read blueprints, select blades, and inspect finished parts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate metal-cutting band saws to cut ATR and round bar to specs.
  • Select blades, adjust settings, and monitor cutting performance.
  • Measure and inspect finished materials using calipers and tapes.
  • Bundle, label, and stage products for downstream processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance: blade changes, coolant checks, basic troubleshooting.
  • Verify cut lengths and ensure materials meet blueprint specs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in line with OSHA and LO/TO.

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic math skills required for measurements, tolerances, and production calculations.
  • Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Forklift certification or material handling experience is a plus.
Experience Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Saw Operator, Machine Operator, Metal Fabrication Operator, or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience operating metal-cutting band saws, including DoAll or similar equipment, preferred.
  • Ability to accurately use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of steel, alloy, stainless steel, threaded rod, and bar stock materials is beneficial.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely handle long bars, threaded rods, bundles, and metal stock.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
Job Duties
  • Set up and operate metal-cutting band saws to cut all-thread rod (ATR), round bar, and other metal materials to precise specifications.
  • Select appropriate saw blades, adjust machine settings, and monitor cutting performance to ensure accurate, high-quality cuts.
  • Measure and inspect finished materials using tape measures, calipers, stop blocks, and other quality tools.
  • Bundle, label, and stage finished products for forging, threading, machining, and other downstream manufacturing processes.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, including blade changes, guide adjustments, coolant checks, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Verify cut lengths and product quality while ensuring materials meet production requirements and blueprint specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety standards.
