Job summary

Komline in Rockford, IL is seeking a Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up and operate metal‑sawing machines to cut stock to specified dimensions, read job orders, and adjust blades and cutting parameters.

Responsibilities include positioning materials, inspecting finished parts for conformance, maintaining safety and housekeeping, and recording production data. Requirements: high school diploma or GED, ability to read shop routings/blueprints to 1/32 in, forklift

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with six months manufacturing experience or equivalent
• Ability to read shop routings, blueprints and standard tape measure to 1/32 in
• Fork Lift Operator Certification
• Continually stand and walk; push/pull lift up to 50 lbs; occasional bending

Responsibilities

• Reads orders to determine specifications (material, type, size) and cuts stock accordingly
• Transfers stock to machine using manual methods or hoist
• Sets blade tension and cutting speed; adjusts blade angle for required cuts
• Positions and secures stock; operates coolant flow during cutting
• Starts machine, monitors operation, and measures output for conformance
• Inspects parts and records data; maintains cleanliness and safety in work area
• Communicates with coworkers and supervisor to coordinate activities
• Replaces worn blades as needed and follows all company policies

Komline is looking for a Saw Operator to join our growing team. The Saw Operator sets up and operates metal-sawing machines, such as hacksaw, and cutoff saw to cut metal stock to dimensions. This person will read job orders, adjust blades and cutting parameters, position materials, and monitor machine operation to ensure accuracy and quality.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Reads to order for specifications, such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut
• Obtains and transfers stock to machine, manually or with hoist
• Installs or adjusts saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation
• Sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts, using wrench
• Sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut, using steel rule and wrenches
• Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device
• Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area
• Starts machine and observes operation
• Measures work for conformance to specifications, using rule
• Marks identifying data on workpiece
• Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel, using handtools
• Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities
• Inspects and measures parts to maintain quality control
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Record daily attendance and production information on timekeeping system
• Follow all Barnes company policies and procedures diligently and effectively Job
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months experience in a manufacturing environment or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to read shop routings, blueprints and standard tape measure to 1/32nd of an inch
• Fork Lift Operator Certification
• Continually stand and walk
• Frequently push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs
• Occasionally bend to the floor
