Job summary

Earle M. Jorgensen Company in Plainfield, IN, is seeking a Saw Operator (2nd Shift) to safely set up and run metal cutting saws according to work orders. The role may operate independently or as part of a team and must follow all company policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools.
Strong math skills and basic computer literacy.
High attention to detail and safety.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Medium work physical capability.

Responsibilities

Operate overhead and/or wall walker crane using remote or pendant controls.
Secure appropriate rigging devices (chains, straps, hooks, magnets, etc.).
Transport materials using crane or material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Perform safety inspections and complete applicable checklists.
Set up and operate saws to cut materials per specifications; observe multiple saws as needed.
Use hand tools to measure and verify material dimensions and quality.
Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing.
Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges.
Label and package products for shipping using appropriate materials and banding equipment.
Perform maintenance tasks such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment including sweeping shavings and clearing debris.
Participate in safety, quality, and job training sessions.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This role is classified as Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Warehouse/Field setting; minimal temperature environment.
