Job summary

Reliance, Inc. is seeking a Saw Operator to safely set up and operate metal cutting saws in the Plant Department, following work orders and company safety policies. This role may work independently or as part of a team to ensure efficient production.

The operator will read orders and blueprints, use measuring tools, perform routine maintenance on saws, and document activities using company systems. A strong safety mindset and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools.
• Basic math and computer skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform tasks associated with medium work.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead and/or wall crane using remote or pendant controls.
• Secure appropriate rigging devices for lifting materials.
• Transport materials using crane or material handling equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and complete applicable checklists.
• Set up and operate saws to cut materials per specifications; observe multiple saws as needed.
• Use hand tools to measure and verify material dimensions and quality.
• Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing.
• Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges.
• Label and package products for shipping using appropriate materials and banding equipment.
• Perform maintenance tasks such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment including sweeping shavings and clearing debris.
• Participate in safety, quality, and job training sessions.

Job Summary

The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup and operation of various metal cutting saws to cut materials per work orders. This position may work independently or as part of a team and must follow all company policies and safety procedures.
