Job Description for Sawmill Operator

Ensure accuracy in cutting, maintaining consistent quality and dimensions according to specifications. Adjust equipment settings as necessary.

Safely operate sawmill machinery, including Verti-cut saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment, to cut boards into specified sizes and dimensions.

Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure the safe operation of all equipment. Identify and report any potential hazards in the work area.

Maintain pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and troubleshoot equipment as needed.

Assist with forklift driving and material handling.

Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while ensuring accuracy and quality.

Gather all materials needed for daily work orders and assist in conducting inventory counts.

Maintain a clean work area and accurate records of production, including logs processed, volume of lumber produced, and issues encountered.

Collaborate closely with other sawmill operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)

Experience: Prior manufacturing and woodworking experience (preferred)

• Ability to read tape measure and use saw and powered equipment
