Job summary

Go McPherson Career Center is seeking a Saw Operator to safely run an automatic vertical band saw, cutting steel stock to length and ensuring measurements are accurate. You will read basic blueprints and maintain daily inventory records to support production needs.

Responsibilities include unloading materials, operating overhead cranes and forklifts, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. A pre-employment drug screen is required and responsibilities align with safety regulations and site rules.

Qualifications

Saw Operator Description

SUMMARY: Ensures the safe operation of an automatic vertical band saw. Cuts steel stock to correct length and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets basic blueprints
• Completes daily stock inventory reports
• Orders and maintains proper inventory levels of material
• Unload raw materials from semi-trucks and store material
• Maintains equipment and ensures the work area is clean and safe at all times
• Performs essential preventative maintenance on saw equipment
• Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, OSHA regulations, and requirements
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Operates overhead crane and use of a forklift
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
• Compliance with all safety rules and guidelines
• Strong Work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive team attitude
• Consistently adhere to assigned work schedule, ensuring punctuality and reliability
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge of

Trade tools, equipment, materials, tape measure, and techniques used in safe band saw operation. Mechanically inclined. Work independently with little direction. Ability to meet schedules and deadlines. Maintain routine records.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience using a band saw
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
