Job summary

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is seeking a Sous Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations at our Reston cafe, guiding a team of Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers to deliver exceptional food and service.

You will mentor staff, ensure adherence to recipes, portions, and presentation, and help manage inventory and seasonal menu changes in a fast-paced environment. Flexible scheduling and opportunities for growth are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of culinary or kitchen management experience in a high-volume operation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of food and culinary excellence.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cost controls.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production and service per established guidelines
• Maintain recipe, portioning, and presentation standards
• Develop strong understanding of the menu through tasting
• Coach kitchen staff on food prep, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance
• Manage inventory within guidelines
• Assist with seasonal menu changes
• Other duties as assigned
