Job summary

Tatte Bakery & Cafe in New York is seeking a Head Chef (Savory) to oversee all kitchen operations at your café and are ultimately responsible for the success and growth of your kitchen team, including Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers.

A passion for amazing food made from scratch and genuine hospitality is a must, with responsibility for kitchen execution in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and for developing your team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience.
• Passion for culinary excellence and exceeding guest expectations.
• Knowledge of systems, methods, and processes for strong kitchen execution.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Run production and service according to established guidelines.
• Follow standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
• Train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation.
• Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
• Maintain inventory within established guidelines while ensuring necessary products are available.
• Follow company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental meetings and staff development.
• Support the implementation of seasonal menu changes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
