Job description

Our client's space programs organization is standing up new efforts and needs an experienced systems engineer to help carry them from concept through delivery. You will work mission-level problems alongside a cross-discipline engineering team — modeling, analysis, requirements, and interfaces — and translate that work into the technical content leadership relies on at major reviews. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Employment is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Schedule

9/80, with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities
  • Support major program milestones and readiness reviews by developing technical content and distilling it into presentations for key stakeholders.
  • Author and contribute to program data products and other critical deliverables.
  • Work with mission partners to accurately model mission-level elements.
  • Assess vehicle day-in-the-life performance and build design reference missions (DRMs).
  • Produce supporting analyses, including propellant budgets, on-orbit fuel requirements, RF link budgets, and mission lifetime estimates.
  • Develop analysis tools as needed to close gaps in the existing toolset.
  • Own requirements management, decomposing requirements from the mission level down to subsystems.
  • Own interface management, including the development of Interface Control Documentation (ICDs).
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience, a Master's degree with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance at time of application.
  • Systems engineering experience spanning architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements and interface management, hardware/software integration, and mission planning and execution.
  • Experience working as part of a cross-discipline engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to satellite and space vehicle design and production.
  • Experience supporting Class B, C, or D space missions.
  • Experience developing and presenting briefings to senior leaders and executive-level personnel.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience with system architecture, CONOPS development, or model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency with scripting languages and modeling tools such as Python, STOL, MATLAB, or STK.
  • Depth in one or more of: orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, communications, or spacecraft integration and test.
