Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a mission operations engineer to perform real-time spacecraft and satellite flight operations across readiness, execution, and evaluation phases. You will develop detailed plans ensuring maximum mission support and provide technical direction for on-orbit activities.

The role requires strong system engineering, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills, plus active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.

Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases. Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites. Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support. Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies.

Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support. Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies. In this role, you may support a 24/7 crew or direct support day staff position within Flight Operations. You must be willing to work rotating shifts to be considered. We will train you through an extensive education and certification program to utilize your current engineering skills in support of an important customer mission. The successful candidate will build upon their current engineering skills with an extensive education and certification program to enhance your current skills in support of an important customer mission. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Ability to obtain TS/SCI required for this role.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to support a rotating work schedule
  • Prior operations experience
  • Demonstrated strong system engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a team environment
  • Experience working in a dynamic customer environment and proven customer relations skills
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must posses an active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance, US citizenship required
Desired Skills
  • Demonstrated project and/or technical leadership skills
  • Experience working with on-orbit spacecraft or satellite flight operations
  • Holds or has held relevant certifications and/or qualifications
  • Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) attributes
  • Familiarity in one of the following: LINUX, MATLAB, JAVA, C++, PERL, ORACLE/SQL, HTML, or XML
  • Understanding of customer site's software / hardware infrastructure, middleware, and system architectures
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
