Job summary

Planet in San Francisco is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to own the hardware powering our satellites. You will design, optimize, and validate electrical, data, and embedded systems, push PCBAs to their limits, and ensure readiness for space. The role requires hybrid work from SF and up to 25% travel to Berlin.

You will collaborate with manufacturing and qualification teams to develop tests at satellite factories and ensure robust designs for harsh environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.
• 2+ years taking designs from schematics to manufacturing.
• Experience with power converter, analog, and mixed signal PCB design.
• Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).
• Embedded systems familiarity; interfaces like I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of analog, power and mixed signal subsystems from requirements to design.
• Perform schematic capture and power integrity simulations; guide layout.
• Design harnesses and coordinate with mechanical engineering on fabrication drawings.
• Validate and debug designs during bring-up and testing; support integration.
• Develop power supply designs and ensure EMC and thermal interfacing.
