Job summary

SES Satellites seeks a Communications Satellite Technician, Represented, to provide first-level technical support for teleports and satellite equipment at Somis, CA, and Haleiwa, HI. You will monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain RF, fiber, and baseband systems, and support aerial vehicle ground operations and mission support.

The role requires reading schematics, assembling wave guides, using test equipment, and coordinating with engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (can be substituted for education).
• Ability to work rotating shifts (day, evening, and night), weekends, holidays, and on call.
• Ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Experience with SATCOM, broadband, telecommunications, digital video, RF carrier multiplex paths, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to read RF and Electrical Drawings.
• Ground System experience in Satellite Acquisition, including Antenna control, peak optimization procedures and RF path verification.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of RF equipment used in satellite downlink/uplink operations.
• Troubleshooting on High-Power Amplifiers, fiber-optic systems, upconverters, downconverters, RF switch assemblies, ACUs, LNAs and LNBs.
• Maintenance and repair of large satellite antennas systems.
• Read schematics and assemble wave guide systems; use test equipment; document activities.
• Install, calibrate, and maintain systems for satellite launch, tracking and evaluation missions.
• Create and maintain RF drawings and block diagrams.
