Job summary

SES is seeking a Communications Satellite Technician, Represented, for the Somis teleport and remote Haleiwa site. The role covers installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of satellite communications equipment, with emphasis on RF systems, HTS equipment, and related ground infrastructure.

You'll read schematics, configure RF paths, and work as part of a team across shifts, ensuring service throughput for aerial vehicles, cruise lines, and in-flight connectivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field experience (can be substituted for education).
• Ability to work rotating shifts (day, evening, and night), weekends, holidays, and on call.
• Ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Experience with SATCOM, broadband, telecommunications, digital video, RF carrier multiplex paths, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to read RF and Electrical Drawings.
• Ground System experience in Satellite Acquisition, including Antenna control, peak optimization procedures and RF path verification.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of RF equipment for satellite downlink/upLink operations, waveguides, cables, RF systems, fiber-optic systems and networks.
• Troubleshoot high-power amplifiers, fiber-optic systems, upconverters, downconverters, RF switch assemblies, ACUs, LNAs and LNBs.
• Maintain large satellite antenna systems and perform system-level and bench-level electronics troubleshooting.
• Perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance, and routine repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
• Read schematics, assemble waveguide systems, use test equipment, and communicate with management and engineers.
