Job summary

SES, a leading communications satellite company, seeks a Communications Satellite Technician, Represented, at the Somis teleport in California. You will provide first-level technical support for customer service, teleport operations, installation, and maintenance of satellite communications equipment, including HTS systems, antennas, and ground subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (can be substituted for education).
• Ability to work rotating shifts (day, evening, and night), weekends, holidays, and on call.
• Ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Experience with SATCOM, broadband, telecommunications, digital video, RF carrier multiplex paths, and TCP/IP.
• Ability to read RF and Electrical Drawings.
• Ground System experience in Satellite Acquisition, including Antenna control, peak optimization procedures and RF path verification.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of RF equipment used in satellite downlink/uplink operations.
• Performs system to component-level troubleshooting on HPA, fiber-optic systems, upconverters, downconverters, RF switch assemblies, ACUs, LNAs/LNBs.
• Maintenance and repair on large transmit/receive satellite antenna systems.
• System level and bench level electronics troubleshooting.
• Read schematics, assemble waveguide systems, utilize test equipment, document tasks, interact with management & engineers.
• Perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance and replacement of electronic/electromechanical equipment.
• Maintain, monitor, and configure HTS equipment at South Mountain Teleport, Somis, CA, USA.
• Troubleshoot remotely and provide instructions via email/phone/remote M&C equipment.
• Install, calibrate, and maintain integrated computer/communications systems consoles for satellite missions.
• Create and maintain RF drawings and block diagrams.
