Job summary

Relative Dynamics is seeking a Mid-Level System Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD to support the USGS EROS Center. This is an onsite, full-time role requiring in-person collaboration with scientists and partners on satellite communications ground systems.

The successful candidate will apply systems engineering practices, work with RF equipment, and contribute to architecture studies and integration efforts in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years in Satellite Communications Engineering or equivalent (LEO a plus).
• U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR.
• Three years of continuous U.S. residency for Government Security credential.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a national agency check and background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Work on meaningful projects that support Earth science and sustainability.
• Collaborate with engineers and mentors focused on innovation.
• Gain hands-on experience with Satellite Communications and system development.
• Provide hardware engineering support and maintenance for RF ground station equipment.
• Develop ground-based systems (antennas, RF equipment, ground station hardware).
• Coordinate with Systems Engineer, Software Engineers, Operators and team members.
• Perform systems engineering activities per the SEMP.
• Decompose operations concepts into detailed requirements.
• Develop/implement requirements and document interfaces.
• Conduct architecture and trade studies; execute integration testing.
• Support integration activities at remote partner locations.
• Ensure activities align with standards and best practices.
• Manage configuration change requests per CM processes.
