Job summary

The Boys’ Club of New York is seeking an SAT/Regents Prep Tutor to support high school members (ages 14–21) by adapting curriculum, preparing materials, and delivering sessions with a focus on student achievement. Roles include scoring pre- and post-tests and maintaining a positive learning environment for group and individual tutoring.

The position is part-time, non-exempt, and requires 2+ years of SAT/Regent prep experience, strong communication, and the ability to engage a diverse student

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in teaching test preparation, especially SAT/Regent prep.
• Subject matter expertise and experience working with a diverse population of males.
• Documentation of high achievement on both sections of the SAT/Regent and/or similar standardized tests.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; active classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Adapt provided SAT prep and Regent curriculum to meet member needs.
• Prepare, organize, and update all course materials.
• Pace course information delivery to meet all students.
• Create an interactive classroom environment and build positive relationships with students.
• Ensure students are prepared for SAT/Regent exams.
• Know the SAT/Regent formats, dates, timelines, etc.
• Model exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Schedule: 6 hours per week
Salary Range: $30.00 per hour
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary

In our pursuit to provide all members with services that will allow them to reach their potential, we are currently searching for an SAT/Regents Prep Tutor to provide assistance to our high school-aged members, ages 14-21. Education is a core focus of the organization and offering our males the opportunity to access a college education is one of our priorities. The SAT/Regents Prep Tutor will prepare class materials, teach SAT and Regent courses, score pre- and post-tests, and maintain a positive learning environment. The classes are expected to have several members at one time, but can include individual tutoring as well.

Responsibilities

• Adapt provided SAT prep and Regent curriculum to meet the needs of the members in the courses
• Prepare, organize, and update all course materials
• Pace course information delivery to meet the needs of all students
• Create an interactive classroom environment and establish positive relationships with students
• Ensure that members are prepared for the level of difficulty of the SAT/Regent exams
• Possess knowledge of all information pertaining to the SAT/Regent tests (i.e. format, dates offered, timeline, etc.)
• Model exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in teaching test preparation, and SAT/Regent preparation in particular

Relevant subject matter expertise and experience working with diverse population of males

Documentation of high achievement on both sections of the SAT/Regent and/or similar standardized tests

Strong communication and presentation skills; Active and effective classroom management skills

Ability to drive students at all levels to perform their best; Strong ability to effectively plan and deliver program content.
