Job summary

The Boys Club of New York BCNY is seeking a SAT Regents Prep Tutor to support high school members aged 14–21. You will prepare class materials, teach SAT and Regent courses, score tests, and foster a positive learning environment in a small-to-medium group setting.

Minimum a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant teaching experience; strong communication and organizational skills are essential. The role is part-time, non-exempt, located at 321 East 111th St, Manhattan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred.
• 2 years of experience in teaching test preparation and SAT/Regent preparation in particular.
• Relevant subject matter expertise and experience working with diverse population of males.
• Documentation of high achievement on both sections of the SAT/Regent and/or similar standardized tests.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; Active and effective classroom management skills.
• Ability to drive students at all levels to perform their best; Strong ability to effectively plan and deliver program content.
• Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Organizational Support, Design, Planning and Organizing, Quality Leadership, Teamwork, Written and Oral Communication.

Responsibilities

• Adapt provided SAT prep and Regent curriculum to meet the needs of the members in the courses.
• Prepare, organize and update all course materials.
• Pace course information delivery to meet the needs of all students.
• Create an interactive classroom environment and establish positive relationships with students.
• Ensure that members are prepared for the level of difficulty of the SAT/Regent exams.
• Possess knowledge of all information pertaining to the SAT/Regent tests (ie format, dates offered, timeline, etc).
• Model exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
