Job summary

SICK Sensor Intelligence in Bloomington, MN seeks an experienced SAP IT professional to support SAP modules, describe business needs technically, and contribute to global IT initiatives.

You will work four days on-site and one day remotely, participate in SAP projects, and drive process improvements with regional teams and the headquarters in Germany. A strong ABAP background and logistics SAP experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Eng or equivalents with SAP experience.
  • Experience in optimization and rollout of SAP S/4, EWM, WM, TM, GTT, LBN, LE, LE-TRA.
  • Concept development and technical implementation of new logistics requirements.
  • Good ABAP understanding and SAP technical familiarity.
  • Knowledge of automated warehouse management and digital logistics optimization.
  • IT process optimization in logistics with business collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Describe business requirements at a technical level for global collaboration.
  • Own and rectify medium to complex SAP incidents without escalation.
  • Prioritize, troubleshoot and resolve global tickets based on impact.
  • Escalate complex incidents as needed.
  • Build queries independently and support SAP modules.
  • Participate in SAP projects and rollouts; translate requirements into technical tasks.

Job description

*This position is based in our SICK, Bloomington MN campus. The person will work in office four days a week and can remotely work one day a week.

Key Responsibilities
Service and Support
  • Able to support the business in describing business requirements at a technical level without losing business need so global team can collaborate on options.
  • Own and rectify medium to complex incidents within SAP applications of respective SAP module(s) without escalation by providing known working solutions.
  • Prioritize, troubleshoot and resolve global tickets based on business impact through global ticketing tool. Able to assist and/or take over global tickets.
  • Escalate complex incidents.
  • Possess deep specialized knowledge in own functional area (or how they relate to the business).
  • Performs problem solving in terms of ITSM by foreseeing issues and seeking to resolve them before they happen.
  • Is able to support other functional areas with some assistance through basic understanding of how respective SAP module(s) integrate.
  • Performs root cause analysis, ABAP, reading/debugging and interface support.
  • Build queries independently.
Project
  • Participate in SAP projects (i.e. roll outs) and complete work tasks assigned with limited or no support.
  • Involvement in projects that bring third party solutions and interfaces into the business efficiency gains to the business.
  • Easily able to understand and gather requirements from the business and translate functional requirements into technical requirements, presenting options and contributes to decision making with long-term goals in mind.
  • Take over tasks from headquarters development team to configure or realize new functionalities.
Documentation and Training
  • Extend or create documents for use in training and support for users in all facets of the day to day operational activities.
  • Create and maintain a repository of documentation created to help capture knowledge for improve response times.
  • Train key users on new template functionalities in cross-functional departments as needed.
Process
  • Proactive in identifying local process optimizations and proposes improvements where feasible to avoid future occurrences as a global solution.
  • Fully grasp why things are structured a certain way to solve a certain set of problems in time.
  • Easily able to share and talk to regional business processes.
  • Take on global priorities and reflect back to the business to manage expectations as to what is possible and escalates as required.
  • Discern technical requirements and explain the real business need and impact to the region.
  • Conduct onboarding in respective functional area.
  • Build test scenarios for new functionalities in cross-functional areas and conducts testing in with limited or no support.
  • Clearly define process for testing new functionalities and document findings in detail.
Meeting
  • Enhance the respective SAP module(s) community among the Key-Users by holding regular key-user meetings, track topics, etc. seeking for automation and ongoing efficiency gains.
  • Work as an extension of the SICK global IT headquarter departments and specifically with the functional teams within SICK AG in the respective SAP module(s) support teams.
  • Proactive participant in the Process User Group of respective SAP module(s).
  • Serve as a regional multiplier in the Process User Group of respective SAP module(s)
Key Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent degree or Bachelor’s degree with extensive module knowledge and process experience or equivalent SAP experience.
  • Ideally professional experience in optimization and rollout of SAP S/4, EWM, WM, TM, GTT, LBN, LE, LE-TRA.
  • Development of concepts as well as technical implementation of new logistics requirements in the SAP landscape in close collaboration with the Experts in Germany
  • Good technical understanding, preferably in ABAP programming
  • Knowledge in fully automated warehouse management.
  • Material flow optimization and digitalization of the supply chain in an innovative environment.
  • Optimization and standardization of IT processes in logistics in close cooperation with the business units
Other Qualifications
  • Experience prioritizing, trouble shooting and resolving global tickets based on business impact through global ticketing tool.
  • Good analytical, logical problem-solving skills with the ability to understand new tasks quickly.
  • Knowledgeable on business processes from the functional area and how to mitigate challenges in supporting one global ERP system and its processes.
  • Can demonstrate a deeper understanding of the context behind SICKs business drivers.
  • Able to work with a SICK global IT headquarter departments and with functional teams with SICK Germany.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience prioritizing, trouble shooting and resolving global tickets based on business impact through global ticketing tool.
  • Good collaboration with the business and colleagues verbally, over the phone and in writing (email).
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States (*This position is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future.)
  • Able and willing to work alternative schedules including weekend, and on-call hours as needed.
  • Able to work in a general office environment.
Compensation

The base salary is one part of our Total Rewards package and is determined within a range. The starting base salary range for this position is listed below; the actual starting salary will be based on a variety of factors including experience, skill set, education, performance, licenses/certifications, business needs and other job-related factors, as permitted by law.

  • Starting Base Annual Salary Range: $83,640 - $126,500
