Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an SAP Production Planning (PP) Consultant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. The role supports a manufacturing organization, working on PP assignments with potential for conversion to full-time.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of SAP PP experience and are comfortable delivering hands-on results. The contract requires remote work during the contract phase with periodic onsite visits, and later a local candidate for DF/W when converting to full-time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on SAP Production Planning (PP) experience.
• At least 5 years supporting discrete manufacturing operations.
• Strong configuration and business process knowledge across SAP PP.
• Experience supporting manufacturing organizations with production orders and MRP.
• Experience leading requirements-gathering workshops and solution design sessions.
• Experience with SAP implementations, enhancements, or large-scale transformations.
• Proven ability to support users from shop floor to executive leadership.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to boost productivity and support process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support production orders, shop floor control, and production confirmations.
• Manage material requirements planning (MRP) and capacity planning.
• Maintain material master data, BOMs, routings, work centers, and production versions.

Job Title: SAP Production Planning (PP) Consultant

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)

Onsite Requirements: Remote during the contract phase, with periodic onsite visits for key meetings (approximately 1-2 weeks per quarter). Increased onsite presence is expected after conversion to full-time, at which point candidates must be local to DFW.

Compensation Range

• C2C: $100/hr
• W2 without benefits: $88/hr
• W2 with benefits: $85/hr
• Full-time salary: $150,000 to $160,000

Introduction

We are seeking an SAP Production Planning (PP) Consultant for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a manufacturing organization. During the contract phase, you will work alongside the PP lead on a variety of PP assignments, with the potential to convert to a full-time role.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves professional with 5+ years of SAP experience who is comfortable getting work done.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Initial needs are listed below, and other assignments may arise as the role evolves.

• Support production orders, shop floor control, and production confirmations
• Manage material requirements planning (MRP) and capacity planning
• Maintain material master data, bills of material (BOMs), routings, work centers, and production versions
• Handle backflush processing and goods issue / goods receipt processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5-7 years of hands-on SAP Production Planning (PP) experience
• At least 5 years supporting discrete manufacturing operations
• Strong configuration and business process knowledge across SAP PP
• Experience supporting manufacturing organizations with production orders and MRP
• Experience leading requirements-gathering workshops and solution design sessions
• Experience with SAP implementations, enhancements, or large-scale business transformation initiatives
• Proven ability to support users from the shop floor through executive leadership
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or equivalent) to boost productivity, speed up analysis, create documentation, and support process improvement

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing experience
• Experience implementing MRP in a manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting production scheduling and capacity planning
• Knowledge of batch management and traceability processes
• Experience integrating SAP PP with Materials Management (MM), Quality Management (QM), and Controlling (CO)
• Experience supporting manufacturing startups, greenfield implementations, or rapidly growing operations
• APICS CPIM certification
