Our well-known Houston-based manufacturing client is adding an SAP PP Solution Lead to their dynamic team. The role will own their production planning landscape with primary accountability for PP module design, configuration, and process governance. In addition, this role will lead business process analysis, system design, and configuration across production planning, including MRP, capacity planning, shop floor control, and production order management, while contributing to adjacent modules including Materials Management, Warehouse Management, and demand planning as needed.

What you will be doing:
- Own the production planning solution architecture for an S/4HANA carve-out and transformation, defining target state process designs, configuration standards, and module roadmaps across SAP PP, with supporting contributions to WM, MM, and demand planning.
- Lead end-to-end solution design for PP within S/4HANA implementations, including carve-outs from existing SAP landscapes, covering production orders, MRP, capacity planning, shop floor control, and repetitive manufacturing scenarios.
- Serve as the principal SAP PP subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior leaders across IT, manufacturing operations, and supply chain regarding S/4HANA production planning capabilities, risks, and roadmap.
- Lead design authority for all PP-enabled business processes, ensuring solutions follow clean-core architecture principles and support performance, stability, and scalability within the manufacturing domain.
- Perform fit-gap analysis for production planning requirements and oversee solution quality across functional and non-functional dimensions including performance, reliability, and usability.
- Provide expert-level functional knowledge of SAP PP, including deep configuration experience across MRP, production order management, capacity planning, BOM management, routings, and shop floor integration.
- Contribute to the integrated solution blueprint spanning SAP core and surrounding systems (UKG, PLM/Teamcenter, IFM/GIB, Vertex, Medius, OneStream), ensuring consistent data and process flows where they intersect with production planning and materials management.
- Manage BOM and routing changes driven by engineering change orders (ECOs/ECRs), ensuring downstream production planning impacts are assessed and controlled.
- Participate in architecture review board discussions as the PP domain representative, contributing to integration pattern standards, master data governance approaches, and material master consistency across the SAP landscape.
- Coordinate cross functional change impact across Engineering, Production Planning, and Manufacturing for change master and change number workflows
- Partner with PMO to align PP workstream milestones with broader program roadmaps, business readiness activities, change impacts, and value realization targets.
- Guide the design of end-to-end testing strategies for PP processes, including unit, integration, regression, and UAT coverage across critical cross-system touchpoints such as MRP-to-procurement, production-to-warehouse, and order-to-confirmation flows.
- Provide expert-level support during cutovers, go-lives, and hypercare, ensuring stable transition of production planning processes from project to operations.
- Define and promote integration patterns (API, IDoc, SFTP, iPaaS) and data governance practices specific to PP-adjacent data flows, including material masters, BOMs, routings, and production confirmations.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- 7–10 years of SAP PP functional experience, including at least one full lifecycle of S/4HANA or ECC implementation. Brownfield, carve-out, or system consolidation experience is strongly preferred.
- Primary depth in PP with working knowledge of at least one adjacent module (MM, WM, QM, or demand planning).
- Strong manufacturing background spanning engineered-to-order, configure-to-order, make-to-order, and make-to-stock environments, with hands-on experience in MRP, BOM management, routing, capacity planning, and shop floor execution integration.
- Solid understanding of master data governance and familiarity with data migration considerations in SAP environments, particularly material masters, BOMs, and work centers.
- Experience with SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM), including change masters, object management, and change number workflow.
- Experience working in hybrid Agile/Waterfall delivery methodologies within ERP or supply chain program contexts.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence director and C-suite level.
- Strong mentorship capabilities with experience guiding junior and mid-level SAP analysts through complex implementation work.
- SAP and architecture framework certifications and familiarity with public/hybrid/On-prem cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with integration between SAP ECM, QM and PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred) for change propagation.
