SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Delivery Manager ( US or EMEA)

We are seeking an experienced SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Delivery Manager to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of SAP MDG implementation workstreams within a global SAP S/4HANA transformation program.

This is a technical project management role requiring prior hands‑on SAP MDG implementation experience. The successful candidate must possess a solid technical understanding of SAP MDG architecture, configuration, workflow, integration, extensibility, and development concepts in order to effectively manage consulting teams, review technical deliverables, identify project risks, and provide accurate project status to executive leadership.

This role is separate from the Scrum Master role. The Scrum Master owns sprint ceremonies, JIRA administration, backlog management, sprint planning support, and day‑to‑day agile execution. The Technical Project Manager owns the successful delivery of the MDG solution and consulting team deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP MDG implementation workstreams across multiple global releases.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, delivery milestones, and implementation roadmaps.
• Coordinate activities across functional consultants, technical consultants, developers, integration teams, data migration teams, business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and external system integrators.
• Drive successful completion of project deliverables while managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and dependencies.

Technical Delivery Management

• Provide technical project leadership for SAP MDG solution implementation.
• Review solution architecture, functional designs, technical specifications, and development estimates.
• Ensure technical consistency across configuration, custom development, workflow, interfaces, Fiori applications, data migration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Facilitate technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
• Track technical dependencies across multiple SAP workstreams.

SAP MDG Solution Oversight

• Coordinate implementation activities across SAP MDG domains including:
• Business Partner – Customer
• Business Partner – Supplier
• Material Master
• Future Cloud-Ready Mode implementations
• Ensure alignment with enterprise master data governance standards.
• Coordinate solution reviews with Solution Architects and Technical Leads.
• Monitor implementation quality against SAP best practices and Clean Core principles.

Project Governance

• Establish project governance processes, reporting cadence, decision logs, RAID logs, and steering committee materials.
• Prepare weekly and monthly executive project status reports.
• Present project health, milestone progress, resource utilization, risks, issues, budget status, and mitigation plans to senior management.
• Manage scope changes through established governance processes.
• Coordinate project stage-gate reviews and implementation readiness assessments.

Release and Deployment Management

• Coordinate MDG deliverables across regional rollouts, ensuring country readiness, managing deployment dependencies, and driving cutover governance with the PMO.

Consulting Team Management

• Manage delivery commitments of internal and external SAP MDG consulting teams.
• Coordinate work assignments across functional consultants, technical developers, integration consultants, workflow specialists, Fiori developers, and testing teams.
• Review deliverable quality and ensure timely completion.
• Escalate resource constraints, technical blockers, and project risks appropriately.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with:
• SAP S/4HANA Program Management Office
• Data Governance Office
• Integration Teams
• SAP Basis
• Security
• Infrastructure
• Testing Teams
• Business Process Owners
• Regional Deployment Teams
• Ensure dependencies across workstreams are proactively managed.

Testing and Deployment

• Coordinate Functional Integration Testing (FIT), System Integration Testing (SIT), Business Simulation Testing (BST), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Mock Go-Lives, Production Cutover, and Hypercare activities.
• Monitor defect resolution progress and delivery readiness.
• Ensure implementation deliverables meet agreed quality standards prior to release.

Risk and Issue Management

• Identify technical, functional, integration, and organizational risks.
• Develop mitigation and contingency plans.
• Escalate critical issues with clear recommendations and recovery plans.
• Facilitate resolution of cross-functional delivery issues.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary delivery contact for implementation partners.
• Coordinate consulting resources and vendor deliverables.
• Build strong relationships with business sponsors and executive stakeholders.
• Communicate project status, decisions, and risks clearly across all organizational levels.

The Technical Project Manager collaborates closely with the Scrum Master but focuses on overall project delivery, governance, stakeholder communication, and technical execution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of SAP implementation experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on SAP MDG implementation experience.
• Prior experience as an SAP MDG Functional Consultant, Technical Consultant, Solution Architect, or Technical Lead before moving into project management.
• Minimum 5 years of SAP project management experience delivering large-scale SAP transformation programs.
• Experience managing global SAP S/4HANA implementation projects.

• PMP and/or Scrum certification.
• Experience leading geographically distributed consulting teams.
• Experience working with multiple system integrators on global transformation programs.
