SAP Functional Lead – EAM/PM

LOCATION: Flexible – Fully remote / Hybrid

WORK LOCATION: Hybrid – ~2 days/week onsite if local to Bismarck, ND; remote in approved states with occasional travel (<25% annually)

OVERVIEW

BrainWorks is seeking an SAP Functional Lead – Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Plant Maintenance (PM) for a direct hire opportunity supporting a large, asset-intensive industrial organization currently in the early stages of a greenfield SAP Private Cloud (RISE) implementation. This high-impact, customer-facing role blends SAP functional expertise with strong business process alignment skills. You will partner closely with operational leaders and the implementation partner to configure SAP EAM/PM using best practices and minimal customization, support related functional areas, and ensure a seamless transition to internal ownership after go-live. The ideal candidate has deep SAP EAM/PM configuration experience, thrives in collaborative, consultative settings, and can translate business needs into effective, SAP-aligned solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SAP EAM/PM Functional Leadership

• Serve as the primary functional expert for EAM and PM modules in a greenfield SAP Private Cloud (RISE) environment.
• Configure modules with minimal customization, focusing on SAP best practices and out-of-the-box functionality.
• Support related areas including equipment management, work order management, maintenance scheduling, and compliance procedures (Lock Out / Tag Out).

Business Process Alignment

• Partner with operations and maintenance leaders to understand current processes and align SAP solutions to business needs.
• Apply a consultative, collaborative approach—showing how SAP can enhance workflows rather than forcing unnecessary change.
• Facilitate workshops and knowledge transfer sessions to prepare internal teams for post-implementation ownership.

Implementation & Transition Support

• Collaborate with the implementation partner to accelerate knowledge transfer and ensure readiness for internal support after partner disengagement.
• Participate in testing cycles (UAT, defect resolution) and maintain detailed process/configuration documentation.
• Coordinate with other functional leads (FICO, EHS, MM) to ensure smooth cross-module integration.

Stakeholder Communication & Training

• Provide clear, business-friendly updates on project status, risks, and recommendations.
• Assist in developing and delivering end-user training to promote adoption and system effectiveness.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field; OR equivalent SAP functional experience.
• 5+ years of SAP functional experience with deep expertise in EAM and PM modules.
• Experience in greenfield SAP implementations, preferably in SAP Private Cloud (RISE).
• Proven ability to quickly learn and apply business processes in asset-intensive industries (manufacturing, utilities, energy, industrial).
• Strong SAP configuration skills for maintenance planning, work orders, equipment lifecycle management, and compliance processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with external implementation partners and leading knowledge transfer to internal teams.

In alignment with applicable pay transparency and fair hiring laws, the target annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 – $135,000. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including (but not limited to) relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and work location.

This position may also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package provided by the hiring employer, which may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other employee programs.
