Title: SAP Functional Billing & Invoicing Consultant

Company: Tampa Electric Company

Location: Midtown East Tower, Tampa, Florida

Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

Storm Duty Requirements

Team members are required to participate in response and recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to Tampa Electric customers. Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Team members may work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Role Overview

The SAP Functional Billing & Invoicing Consultant translates business requirements in the Functional Area (Billing & Invoicing, FICA or DM) into SAP system configuration via the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG). The role involves systems analysis, design, development, continuous enhancements, troubleshooting, and ensuring SAP solutions align with the organization's IT architecture.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Implement software solutions requiring in-depth configuration and integration; drive substantial interaction with vendor resources and integrate applications with complex interfaces based on specifications.
   • Hands‑on experience in SAP IS‑U Billing & Invoicing with deep functional expertise across the meter‑to‑cash lifecycle (Electricity & Gas).
   • Expert in configuring and customizing billing master data, including rate modelling and regulated/de‑regulated tariff models.
   • Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end billing and invoicing processes: budget billing, RTP billing, TOU billing, mass batch jobs, exception management, bill simulation, unbilled revenue scenarios, and collective billing.
   • Working knowledge of SAP ISU Bill Print, including Print Workbench configuration and integration with Smart Forms and Adobe Forms.
   • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including integration with Device Management and FICA.
   • Extensive functional and solution experience to design and develop complex solutions aligned with digital transformation initiatives.
   • Strong client‑facing skills – serve as a functional liaison between business and IT, guiding stakeholders on best practices.
   • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA utilities and Fiori; able to analyze, debug, and troubleshoot OData and web services used in integrations.
2. Participate in an Application Development and Support team and project teams under the direction of the Lead SAP Configurator, Manager, or Project Managers; serve as Technical Lead on projects and may lead multiple concurrent projects.
3. Act as a subject‑matter expert in multiple business unit areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.
4. Mentor junior staff, develop and drive standard practices within the team, and collaborate with Business Systems Analysts and/or Business Partners to develop software specifications.
5. Acquire and maintain appropriate technical skills; participate in developing and driving standard practices within the team.
6. Support the request and analysis phases of the SDLC, assist with documentation and estimates, execute design, development, and implementation phases, and review deliverables produced by junior staff.
7. Liaise with business partners and unit leads to conduct analysis and design efforts for future enhancements and policy/legislative changes.
8. Maintain awareness of current business marketplace trends with a focus on product and service development, delivery, & support, and apply key technologies.
9. Participate in business process modeling sessions, assist in collecting and consolidating required information, and develop analysis documentation in accordance with the SDLC methodology.
10. Develop strong business and system knowledge for assigned business units, support the maintenance and evolution of the logical data model and business process model, and provide input on technology strategies.
11. Provide training, guidance, and oversee work of staff/AMS contractors to ensure quality results.
12. Lead the development, growth, and mentoring of SAP Configurators.
13. Manage budget, forecast, and calculate actuals for projects and maintain financials.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent (required). Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
• Licenses / Certifications: At least one SAP professional configuration certification in a specific discipline (e.g., CRM, DM, Billing/Invoicing, FICA) is required; preferred if additional certifications are held.
• Experience: Eight (8) years of SAP configuration experience performing systems analysis, design, and development; ten (10) years of configuration experience in at least two functional areas (Billing & Invoicing and FICA or DM).
• Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA) – Required:
  • Strong knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies; stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills; frequently presents information to teams, departments, and business areas.
  • Understanding of project plans and ability to articulate role, project goals, and timelines; develops project plans for small projects and partners on larger projects.
  • Creates and reviews technical design specifications; possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies supporting the IT architecture.
  • Proficient in agile methodologies; able to perform the role of scrum master if needed.
  • Works with AMS to review and approve deliverables and facilitate meetings between AMS and Business through regular calls as needed.
• Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA) – Preferred: Drives continuous process improvement for SDLC, maintenance, application support, and technology architecture.
