SAP FICO Consultant – Hands-On Configuration & Solution Delivery

Position Summary

We are seeking an SAP FICO Consultant with strong hands-on experience in configuring, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting SAP Finance and Controlling solutions. The ideal candidate can translate finance requirements into practical system configurations and independently resolve functional and integration issues.

Experience working directly with clients to understand business challenges, evaluate solution options, and recommend improvements is preferred. The emphasis is on someone who personally performs configuration and delivers solutions, not solely coordinates projects or manages support tickets. This combination of configuration, functional design, and stakeholder engagement aligns with SAP FICO consulting roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and support SAP FI processes, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Asset Accounting (AA)
• Configure and support SAP CO processes, including Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), as relevant to project requirements
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional designs, configuration changes, and system enhancements
• Investigate finance-related production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable fixes
• Support integration between SAP FICO and Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and external systems
• Prepare functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms; collaborate with ABAP developers on implementation and defect resolution
• Perform unit and integration testing, support user acceptance testing, and document test scenarios and results
• Participate in implementations, rollouts, enhancements, cutover activities, and post-go-live support
• Work with finance users and client stakeholders to explain solution options, demonstrate functionality, and recommend process improvements
• Maintain configuration documentation, functional specifications, and user guidance. These responsibilities reflect the configuration-to-delivery scope found in comparable SAP FICO positions

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience personally configuring and troubleshooting SAP FICO, not just using SAP as an end user
• Strong knowledge of core FI processes and relevant CO functionality
• Experience supporting SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA, depending on the client environment
• Understanding of financial process flows, month-end and year-end closing, and integration with other SAP modules
• Ability to translate business requirements into workable SAP solutions
• Experience preparing functional specifications and collaborating with technical development teams
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to take ownership of assigned work from requirements analysis through testing and deployment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior client-facing consulting experience, including requirements workshops, solution demonstrations, or presenting recommendations
• SAP S/4HANA implementation, migration, or rollout experience
• Participation in at least one end-to-end SAP implementation
• Exposure to data migration, reconciliation, and cutover activities
• Experience evaluating standard SAP functionality before recommending custom development
• SAP Finance certification is a plus
