Job summary

Bystronic, a global technology leader in sheet metal, seeks a Production Planner to manage U.S.-built machines. You will own the executable manufacturing plan and use SAP production planning to create, schedule, release, and monitor production jobs.

Responsibilities include ensuring material readiness, coordinating with Procurement, Engineering, Service, and Production teams, and driving on-time delivery while protecting inventory and WIP accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or engineering; equivalent experience considered.
• Three or more years of production planning, scheduling, materials planning, or related manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP production planning; SAP experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to create and release work orders, manage shortages, and coordinate cross-functional recovery actions.
• Knowledge of BOMs, routings, work centers, production lead times, and inventory / WIP control.
• Experience with Jira or similar issue-management system.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the production capacity schedule for U.S.-built machines, balancing commitments, labor, material, and priorities.
• Use SAP production planning module to convert sales orders and demand into production jobs with dates, quantities, work centers, routings, and requirements.
• Create, schedule, and release production jobs and maintain order status.
• Monitor each job from release through completion, including confirmations, open operations, missing transactions, job progress, and timely closure.
• Communicate changes, risks, and recovery actions to stakeholders across departments.
• Review material availability by production job and confirm component readiness.
• Establish need-by dates based on the build sequence to ensure timely materials.
• Identify shortages and supply risks before they impact assembly.
• Lead shortage follow-up with Procurement, Inventory, and Engineering; document owners and recovery dates.
• Support staging, kitting, substitutions, and closeout to protect inventory and WIP accuracy.
• Act as Jira owner for installation needs and create complete Jira tickets.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Installation, Service, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain until resolution.
• Feed lessons learned back into BOMs, routings, and work instructions; assist RCCA.
