Job summary

Groundswell, a premier technology integrator serving federal agencies, seeks a Database Specialist to administer databases in an SAP ERP environment. You will join cross-functional teams addressing HR, Finance, Supply, and operations, ensuring security requirements are met and SDLC processes are followed.

Qualifications include 1–3 years in ERP database management, SAP experience (FI/CO/FM/Supply), active DoD clearance or ability to obtain, and a DoD 8570 certification.

• 1–3 years relevant experience as a Database Management Specialist in ERP environment.
• 2 years SAP experience in FI/CO/FM or Supply Management.
• Active DoD 8570 certification or ability to obtain prior to onboarding.
• At least one Security Certification (CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH).
• Experience in agile development implementation, preferably SAFe and/or DevSecOps.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Must be local to the DC Metro area and willing to be on client site in DC up to 5 days/week.

• Define file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures.
• Test and assist in implementing changes or new database designs.

• Work in cross-functional teams to design database maintenance processes for SAP and related systems.
• Support enhancement requests and resolve incidents within SLAs.
• Prepare progress reports for leadership and clients.

What You'll do:

We are seeking a Database Specialist with experience supporting the Department of Defense to administer databases in an SAP ERP environment. Typical areas addressed include Human Resources, Finance, Supply, and operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support specifically dedicated to the requirements of the project team.
• Perform data entry, queries data research and reports generation activities of relational database environment.
• Support evaluation of available Database Management System (DBMS) products to support validated user requirements.
• Support defining file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications.
• Test and assist in the implementation of changes or new database designs.
• Monitor database usage and statistics based on the set guidelines.
• Work with clients to ensure database solutions satisfy the objectives as defined in the security and operational requirements.
• Work in multi-disciplined teams to define and design processes and procedures for the database maintenance of SAP and related application systems.
• Support enhancement requests and resolve reported incidents within defined service level agreements.
• Prepare progress reports for internal leadership and for client and monitor project progress.
• Mitigate risks, address issues, interface with clients, and keep the leadership informed on project status.
• Develop basis of estimates and program schedule for multiple solution alternatives as needed.
• Support white papers, root cause analysis, other solution related documentation as needed.
• Provide support to the management and perform duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualities

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (no dual status).
• Active DoD Secret security clearance (or higher) required.
• Preference given to candidates with current or recent DoD experience.
• 1‑3 years relevant experience as a Database Management Specialist in ERP environment.
• 2 years focused specifically on SAP years' environment experience.
• 1 year SAP database management experience in FI, CO, FM or Supply Management.
• Active DoD 8570 certification required or must obtain prior to onboarding to the program.
• At least one Security Certification (in order of preference):
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Info Sys Auditor (CISA)/Certified Info Sec Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Other similar certs may be acceptable on a case‑by‑case basis.
• Experience in agile development implementation, preferably SAFe and/or DevSecOps.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Must be local to the DC Metro area and willing to be on client site in DC up to 5 days/week.

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $75,003.00 - $155,447.00.
