Job summary

Jobgether invites a skilled SAP ABAP developer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of SAP solutions focused on Sales and Distribution processes. You will translate business needs into scalable technical designs and work across data engineering and external partners to ensure reliable integrations.

Role emphasizes data extraction, CDS views, OData, and SAP Datasphere integration, with opportunities to strengthen internal SAP capabilities and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related discipline.
• At least four years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience in an enterprise environment.
• Strong ABAP programming knowledge and SAP development practices.
• Experience with SAP SD module or exposure to SD processes.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs for SAP solutions.
• Experience with SAP data extraction and integration technologies (ODP, CDS Views, OData).
• Familiarity with SAP data structures and interfaces with external systems.
• Experience with SQL and data engineering concepts; Python and cloud platforms are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain SAP ABAP solutions including reports, workflows, enhancements, and interfaces.
• Translate functional requirements into scalable SAP technical designs, focusing on SD processes and workflows.
• Design, develop, and maintain data extraction and integration pipelines (ODP, CDS Views, OData).
• Support SAP Datasphere integration and connect SAP applications with cloud data platforms.
• Collaborate with SAP consultants, data engineers, stakeholders, and partners to clarify requirements.
• Investigate SAP technical issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, and document findings.
• Strengthen in-house SAP expertise and internal development practices.
• Contribute to data engineering evolution and cloud data workflows (SQL, Python, AWS).
• Identify opportunities to improve data accessibility, integration reliability, and documentation.

Accountabilities

• - SAP ABAP development: Develop, enhance, test, and maintain SAP solutions using ABAP, including custom reports, workflows, enhancements, and interfaces that support enterprise business processes.
• - Business requirements and solution design: Translate functional and business requirements into scalable technical solutions, with a particular focus on SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) processes and related workflows.
• - SAP data extraction and integration: Design, develop, and maintain reliable data extraction and integration pipelines using technologies such as Operational Data Provisioning (ODP), Core Data Services (CDS) Views, and OData.
• - SAP Datasphere and cloud data integration: Support the integration of SAP data into the broader enterprise data ecosystem, using SAP Datasphere as an endpoint or intermediary and helping connect SAP applications with cloud-based data platforms.
• - Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with SAP functional consultants, data engineers, business stakeholders, and external SAP partners to clarify requirements, deliver technical solutions, and resolve complex implementation or integration issues.
• - Technical troubleshooting and ownership: Independently investigate SAP technical issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, and document findings to improve system reliability and knowledge sharing.
• - Internal capability development: Strengthen in-house SAP expertise, improve development and integration practices, and reduce dependency on external implementation and managed-service partners.
• - Data engineering development: Contribute to the evolution of SAP data workflows and integrations while building further expertise in SQL, Python, AWS, and modern data engineering technologies.
• - Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve SAP data accessibility, integration reliability, technical documentation, and collaboration between application development and data engineering teams.

Requirements

• - A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• - At least four years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including the development and maintenance of SAP customizations in an enterprise environment.
• - Strong knowledge of ABAP programming, SAP development practices, and the principles of designing maintainable and reliable SAP solutions.
• - Good understanding of at least one SAP functional module, with practical experience in SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) strongly preferred.
• - Demonstrated ability to collaborate with SAP functional consultants and translate business requirements into effective technical designs and implementations.
• - Practical experience with SAP data extraction and integration technologies, including ODP, CDS Views, and OData.
• - Strong understanding of SAP ERP data structures, tables, relationships, and the way enterprise business data is organized.
• - Experience developing or supporting SAP interfaces and integrations with external applications or enterprise systems.
• - Exposure to SAP Datasphere or similar SAP data management and integration technologies is highly desirable.
• - Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including data movement, transformation, and pipeline reliability.
• - Experience with Python and/or cloud-based data platforms is an advantage.
• - Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex SAP issues independently and develop practical solutions.
• - Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
• - A collaborative, proactive, and accountable approach, with the ability to manage technical responsibilities and contribute to building internal expertise.

Additional experience that would be an advantage:

• - Experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE.
• - Familiarity with SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Data Services (BODS), or SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• - Experience with SAP Integration Suite or Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).
• - Experience building data pipelines into cloud data warehouses or data lakes.
• - Familiarity with AWS, Amazon Redshift, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, PySpark, or comparable data engineering technologies.
• - SAP ABAP or other relevant SAP certifications.
• - Experience working with external SAP implementation partners or managed-service providers.
• - Previous experience mentoring engineers or taking technical ownership of SAP projects.
