Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking a Sanitization Specialist/Ware Washer at Upper DeBot Dining Center to support dishwashing operations and front-of-house service. This student hourly role requires reliability during meal periods and weekend shifts.

The position offers a base wage of $13.00 per hour, with opportunities to gain experience in food service, sanitation, and teamwork within UW–Stevens Point Dining Services.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
  • Able to lift pans weighing up to 40 lbs, between production area and carts.
  • Able to bend, stoop, twist and lift up to 60 lbs when storing, stocking and gathering items.
  • Able to stand and walk on hard floors for extended hours.
  • Part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate credits) with good academic standing.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must complete mandatory UWSP trainings during onboarding.
  • Eight-week probationary performance evaluation will affect future status.

Accountability

Reports to the University Dining Assistant Manager for DeBot Upper Dining Center and the Student Manager- Upper DeBot Dining Center with daily tasks assigned by Sous Chefs.

Responsibilities

The Sanitization Specialist/Ware Washer is responsible for ensuring that all china, glassware, and silverware are properly cleaned, washed, and sanitized in a timely manner. Ensure that a proper supply of clean china and utensils are delivered to the front of house during meal service. Weekend shifts will be required.

Specific Duties
  • Pulling and sorting smallwares from the carousel in preparation for cleaning.
  • Sorting, staging silverware for cleaning and delivery. Keeps area free of clutter and organized.
  • Scrape, wash, rinse and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils using the sink and washing machine.
  • Loading/unloading the dish machine.
  • Maintain a clean/dry floor throughout the shift.
  • Delivering clean items to various concepts throughout the facility.
  • At end of meal period, assist in the cleaning of carousel, dishwasher, pulper, sink and wash machine, walls, and floors.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Complete University Dining Orientation Canvas Page and Mandatory Trainings (Mandated Reporter and Information Security courses found on the My UW website). upon hiring and before the employee’s first shift.
  • Being held accountable and abide to the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook and any department specific policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management Team.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
  • Ability to lift pans, weighing up to 40#, between production area and carts.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift weighing up to 60# when storing, stocking and gathering prepared products and/or inventory items.
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for extended hours.
  • All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
  • Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated.)
  • Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with department specific (food handling) trainings as part of their employment onboarding.
  • Upon the completion of the eight-week probationary period, the staff supervisor will conduct a performance evaluation with results impacting the students’ future employment status.
