Job description

Position Summary:

A laborer position responsible for solid waste collection services to residents and businesses of Punta Gorda.

Essential FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.

• Collect solid waste from residences and businesses.
• Refuse collection either by manual pickup from the curb or by the use of a dumpster.
• Empty the packer at the landfill, following the directions of the landfill personnel to avoid vehicle damage.
• Clean the packer after being emptied at the landfill.
• Clean exterior of the truck and inside the packer body.
• Operate packer when required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate highly desirable, but not required.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in similar type of work.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required, Class “B” CDL.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Occasionally may be asked to oversee the activities of Sanitation Worker I personnel.
