The City of Boynton Beach is seeking a part-time Crew Worker to perform manual and unskilled tasks across public works and solid waste routes. Work is physical and under supervision, up to 29.5 hours weekly.
You will operate city equipment, load trash/recycle carts, maintain routes, and assist in maintenance tasks. CDL and Florida license preferred; one year of related experience is expected.
The purpose of this classification is to perform manual and unskilled work as part of a crew engaged in maintenance and upkeep of public works and solid waste routes. Work is physical in nature and under the direct supervision of a Crew Supervisor or Solid Waste Supervisor.
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. One (1) year of previous experience involving manual labor, construction, solid waste, or a closely related area. Possess (or obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire) and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s license.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials 50 pounds. May occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (50 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, traffic hazards, and toxic agents.
