Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a sanitation/housekeeping aide to join the Support Services Team. You will maintain sanitation of kitchen and dining room areas and wash pots, pans, and dishes in a hospital setting.

This position operates on a rotating schedule and may interact with patients occasionally. The role requires ability to work quickly under time constraints and to follow directions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Requirements Job Summary: Participates as a member of the Support Services Team with primary responsibility maintaining sanitation of kitchen and dining room area as well as washing pots, pans, and dishes. May interact with patients of all ages on a rare occasion who come into the department. Continually develops knowledge and skills, as appropriate, for patients of any age including neonate, toddler, school age, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in addition to the terminally ill patients

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

• Performs all daily cleaning assignments as per work flow.
• Performs all weekly cleaning assignments as per cleaning schedule.
• Works in dishroom, scrapping trays, loading and unloading dish machine and sorting silverware.
• Records dish machine and pot water temperatures, takes necessary corrective action if temperatures fall outside of proper range.
• Sweeps and mops floors.
• Cleans tables, counters and various types of kitchen equipment which may include: steam tables, yogurt machine, beverage machines, refrigerators, slicer, grill etc.
• Removes trash from department and transports to disposal area maintaining levels in department.
• Receives food deliveries and stores products in appropriate areas rotating stock according to policy.
• Delivers floor stock to all floors while maintaining par levels and fills requisitions as needed.
• Delivers patient late trays to the ED and other patient units when requested and does so in a timely fashion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in communicating with patients and customers.

Work Experience Work Orientation & Experience

Experience in sanitation or housekeeping is preferred. The incumbent may require up to 2 months of detailed job orientation and training to gain specific capabilities to perform essential job functions.
