Job description

Sanitation Technician (2nd Shift)

Mon–Thu, 1:30 pm–12:20 am. Available to work overtime on Friday & Saturday.

Responsibilities
  • Human safety, food safety, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, and product quality are the highest priorities; other duties may be assigned.
  • Replenish supplies, clean restrooms, mop floors, empty trash and replace liners, and all other duties entailing housekeeping.
  • Chemical inventory reported to Ecolab; if necessary, order by email or review with manager.
  • Assist with wash‑down inspections.
  • Use appropriate cleaning chemicals, chemical dispensing stations, perform titrations, and calculate measured concentrations.
  • Safely handle full‑strength chemicals using full PPE.
  • Remove debris from the warehouse and walkways; separate reusable scrap and load onto trailers; bale cardboard and plastic for recycling.
  • Clean floors using mop and bucket as well as a walk‑behind or riding floor scrubber.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dust furniture and equipment; polish metalwork.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork; wash windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies and replace light bulbs.
  • Perform grounds maintenance in all seasons, including removing snow, trash, or spillage from plant grounds.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Education and/or Experience: Six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Language Skills: Adequate English ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, SOPs, and other related documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

The job requires frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, and reaching. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Visibility requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Employees regularly work near moving mechanical parts, are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and operate in loud, hot environments. Outdoor work is required in summer and winter months.

Salary

Salary base range: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour for employees located in Illinois. Employees will receive a $1.00 shift premium. The base salary range is a good‑faith estimate and may be adjusted based on candidate skills, experience, job complexity, budgetary factors, and location.
