Job summary

ofi North America (Olam Food Ingredients) is seeking a sanitation team member in Oxnard, CA to join our food-grade operations. You will maintain clean processing areas, follow cGMP and SOPs, and support QA with sanitation and swab inspections.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and teamwork to ensure product quality. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment, handling chemicals with PPE, participating in preventive maintenance, and contributing to continuous improvement of food

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Demonstrate consistent sanitary practices following training.
  • Complete Blood Borne Pathogen Training.
  • Complete Hazardous Material Identification and Proper Disposal.
  • Basic working knowledge of Food Safety, Safety, Quality, Sanitation and Production Systems.
  • Ability to follow complex work instructions.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts with advance notice.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds or less.
  • Work at heights up to 25 feet or less.
  • Stand and walk for up to 90% of the shift.
  • Previous sanitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates safe basic operation of dry powder filling and packaging equipment.
  • Cleans and treats equipment, grounds, and buildings.
  • Handles chemicals and uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Washes, treats, and sanitizes processing conveyors and food processing lines in accordance with cGMP guidelines and SOPs.
  • Supports preventative maintenance activities and rebuild efforts through detailing and reconditioning of equipment upon reassembly.
  • Participate in the evaluation and equipment inspections ensuring they meet food safety standards.
  • Supports QA by cleaning, inspecting, sanitation, and swab inspections of equipment.
  • Communicate and act professionally with all team members and visitors.
  • Participates in housekeeping principles based on quality, and GMP guidelines.
  • Supports overall departmental goals and objectives; applies them to individual work performance.
  • Actively participates in and supports a safe work environment, timely reports hazards.
  • Actively participates and supports a food safety culture.
  • Participates in completion of data sheets in Red Zone including but not limited to sanitation quality and monitoring.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement of current food safety/QC systems.
  • Assists with custodial cleaning as needed.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance to include timeliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Reporting to Quality Sanitation Supervisor, sanitation team members work closely with each other and the production team to ensure and maintain a clean, sanitized food grade environment for all of the team members, our products, and our consumers! They are focused on the microorganisms that can impact the production process. Sanitation team members work to ensure the production floor and equipment is in a “visit” ready state at all times.

The ideal candidate will possess an innate sense of cleanliness, have excellent attention to detail and be willing to work safely and collaboratively with team members at all levels of the organization.

Position Responsibilities

Position Requirements

  • Required to lift and move a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds or less
  • Required to work at heights of twenty-five (25) feet or less
  • Required to stand and walk for up to 90% of the shift
  • Regularly push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, handle/grasp items and twist/turn
  • Previous sanitation experience is preferred
Work Environment
  • Work with diluted chemicals such as sanitizing agents and cleaners
  • Noise level is loud, therefore always requires hearing protection
  • Exposure to dust and fumes

The pay for this role in the state of CA is $19.20 - $24.97/hr and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location
