Job summary

The Sanitation Technician at B&G Foods, Inc. helps ensure food safety by maintaining cleanliness of production lines, equipment, and facility areas in line with SSOPs and GMPs.

The role supports quality initiatives and a safe, efficient workplace in Maryland. You will document sanitation activities, operate cleaning equipment, and follow safety protocols while supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and follow SOPs and chemical labels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production lines, equipment, floors, and facility areas per SSOP and Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, genie booms, and automated floor scrubbers.
  • Use and handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
  • Perform self-inspections and document sanitation activities accurately.
  • Maintain sanitation logs and report damage or unsafe conditions.
  • Support food safety and quality programs by identifying deviations.

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment, facility areas, and tools in accordance with SSOPs, GMPs, and company standards. This role supports food safety and quality initiatives while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.


Essential Duties


  • Clean and sanitize areas as assigned: production lines, equipment, floors, walls, and facility areas per SSOP and Master Cleaning Schedule.

  • Operate cleaning equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, genie booms, and automated floor scrubbers.

  • Use and handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.

  • Perform self-inspections and document sanitation activities accurately.

  • Maintain sanitation logs and report any damage or unsafe conditions.

  • Support food safety and quality programs by identifying and reporting deviations.

  • Assist with packing, sorting, and material handling as needed.

  • Follow all safety protocols and GMPs.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training.


Qualifications


  • Ability to read and follow SOPs and chemical labels.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic math and reading comprehension.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Previous sanitation or manufacturing experience


Compensation

Base Pay Range: $16.36 - $27.26


Final base pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to; role responsibilities, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal pay equity. Please keep in mind that we consider internal pay equity and hiring at the maximum of the salary range uncommon.
