Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor manages maintenance and plant engineering functions to ensure the continuous and safe operation of equipment and facilities operations. They will supervise and coordinate work activities for the maintenance team. They will also ensure compliance with company policies and drive food safety standards by utilizing best practices. The ideal candidate will be punctual, organized and effective in communicating tasks to employees and providing feedback to management and other departments. Ability to effectively lead, engage and motivate the team will be required for success in this position.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the plant management team responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment in production lines and plant facilities
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining health and safety program practices
  • Provide continuous and safe operation of equipment with minimum downtime while maintaining compliance with all government regulations
  • Lead by example in challenging status quo and optimizing mechanical and electrical staff to deliver best possible asset and labor utilization
  • Develop maintenance budget and manage maintenance spending, with the support of the Operations Manager, within budget
  • Work with ofi engineering department in installation of capital projects
  • Installation and maintenance of new and existing equipment or machinery
  • Identify and prioritize cost reduction projects and housekeeping of building and grounds
  • Maintain system for maintenance work orders and Purchase Orders
  • Schedule manpower and define job requirements to execute corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Scheduling and oversight of sanitation
  • Manage and monitor absenteeism and overtime for maintenance staff including training and ensure that skills are maintained both technically and for safety
  • Maintain regular contact with the Operations Manager, production team leads and quality team and attend daily production meeting
  • Purchase and source materials, parts, equipment and services in a cost-effective and timely manner; research new equipment and technologies
  • Increase process reliability and lead downtime review
  • Standardize processes through creation of SOP and Standard Work Instructions
  • Lead selected continuous improvement (CI) projects
  • Conduct process analysis and process mapping activities
  • Assess and evaluate the operational and pre-requisite programs that support the foundation of the HACCP system
  • Conduct, prepare and execute audits
  • Record objective evidence on the audit checklist and prepare reports
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining product quality and food safety program practices including SQF, HACCP, QA / QC, GMP, Sanitation and good hygiene practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma is required. Technical College Certificate/Diploma is strongly preferred
  • Five (5) years’ progressive experience in the Industrial Maintenance field is required. Previous Maintenance leadership experience, and experience in CPG of food manufacturing is a plus
  • Intermediate to Advanced Mechanical Skills are required. Welding/ Fabrication Skills are highly desired
  • Basic Computer Skills (including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Power Point, etc.) is required
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and food safety procedures is required
  • Ability to observe processes, people and equipment activity to anticipate, identify, correct or prevent quality problems or production interruptions is required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and ensure completion with minimal errors is required
  • Ability to assess and promptly rectify difficult situations and/or issues while adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, is required. Must be able to work cooperatively with various departments and build strong partnerships across the organization as well as lead and manage direct reports
  • Ability to take proactive action based on key indicators and trend information to optimize the production process
  • Frequent lifting and bending is required
  • May lift 35 lbs. on an infrequent basis is required
