Job summary

Utz Quality Foods in King’s Mountain, NC is seeking a Sanitation Technician to maintain clean, safe production areas and ensure compliance with USDA and FDA regulations. You will operate cleaning equipment, follow the Master Sanitation Schedule, safely disassemble and reassemble equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of production experience.
• Familiar with USDA regulated facility.
• Detail oriented, reliable, and resourceful.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Mechanical/electrical problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Master Sanitation Schedule to clean and sanitize all production areas.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment (power washers, steamers, foam applicators) to maintain a spotless facility and equipment.
• Safely disassemble and reassemble equipment for sanitation to prevent contamination.
• Operate equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactors, and vacuums safely.
• Respond quickly to spills or contamination risks, keeping the facility in top condition.
• Wear PPE and follow safety standards to ensure personal and team safety.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S, for operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Follow the Master Sanitation Schedule to clean and sanitize all areas of the plant, ensuring food safety and quality in every step of production.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment, including power washers, steamers, foam applicators, and more, to maintain a spotless facility and equipment.
• Safely disassemble and reassemble equipment for sanitation, preventing contamination and ensuring thorough cleaning.
• Operate equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactors, and vacuum cleaners safely and efficiently.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any spills or contamination risks, keeping the facility in top condition.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), follow proper lifting techniques, and adhere to all safety standards to ensure personal and team safety.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), ensuring the highest level of operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest food safety and sanitation standards.
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift and lift up to 50lbs regularly.
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to clean areas on production machines.
• Capability to safely operate cleaning equipment and follow all safety procedures.
• Dedication to maintaining Utz’s commitment to quality and safety.
• Experience working in a USDA-regulated facility is a plus but not required.
• Ability to comfortably wear and work with various forms of PPE.
• A strong team player who can also work independently to meet production goals.
