Job summary

FGF Brands in Brownsburg, IN is seeking a proactive Sanitation Technician to clean and maintain a range of plant equipment, working a rotating night schedule and weekends as needed.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform safety-focused cleaning, uphold GMP and food safety practices, and operate scissor lifts when required.

The role requires independence, good communication, and attention to detail, with opportunities for growth and benefits as part of our manufacturing team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment or 1 year in janitorial cleaning.
• Willingness to obtain scissor lift certification through FGF Brands.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Physically capable of performing the demands of the role.
• Ability to move between tasks with minimal distraction.
• Weekend schedule is required.
• Attention to detail to detect sanitation issues.
• Working knowledge of GMPs, OSHA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure electrical components are covered before cleaning to prevent safety issues.
• Assist in maintaining sanitation and equipment programs (changing racks, filters, etc.).
• Clean and maintain a range of industrial equipment (ovens, conveyors, motors).
• Communicate efficiently using verbal, written, or radio channels.
• Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Address sanitation-related issues or emergencies promptly.
• Support product changeovers during production weeks.
• Follow GMPs and Food Safety practices at all times.
• Handle chemicals properly per policies and supplier specs.
• Follow health and safety policies (PPE, practices).
• Work weekdays and weekends, up to 12-hour shifts.
• Operate scissor lifts safely for overhead cleaning.
• Collaborate with internal groups and provide daily cleaning support.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday hours:7PM- 5 AM OR 9PM- 7AM

Saturday-Sunday hours:7PM- 7AM

*Rotating schedule to include up to 3 weekends per month.

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a range of different equipment within the plant, works in a timely manner, works alongside cross functional departments, and meets all standards set forth by FGF Brands.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all electrical components of machine (motors, sensors, HMI screens, etc.) are covered properly before cleaning to prevent safety issues and damage to the electrical components.
• Assists in maintaining sanitation programs and equipment programs as needed (e.g. changing rack wheels, changing air socks, replacing filters, wastewater sampling, removing and reinstalling conveyor belts, washing HVAC systems, and other assigned tasks)
• Cleans and maintains a range of industrial equipment including, but not limited to oiler machines, ovens, conveyor belts, scissor lifts, sky jacks, motors, sanitation equipment.
• Must communicate efficiently and effectively using various forms such as verbal, written, two-way radio, other programs, etc.
• Maintains excellent working relationships with cross functional departments.
• Address any issues or emergencies related to the Sanitation department. This may include examples such as equipment issues/failures, water leaks, safety hazards, food safety issues, etc.
• Support during product changeovers throughout the production week.
• Always follows and enforces GMP’S and Food Safety practices and policies.
• Ensure all chemicals are handled properly according to FGF policies and the chemical supplier’s specifications.
• Follow all Health & Safety policies and practices (PPE, best practices, safety requirements, etc.)
• Must be able to work throughout the week and weekend (Sat. and Sun.) and able to work up to 12 hr. shifts.
• Operates Scissor Lift safely to clean overhead and hard to reach areas.
• Collaborate effectively with all internal groups/teams and provide support during the daily cleaning.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months’ experience working in the sanitation industry in a food manufacturing environment OR minimum of 1 year of experience working in janitorial, commercial, or residential cleaning.
• Willingness to obtain scissor lift certification through FGF Brands.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
• Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction.
• Weekend schedule is required.
• Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue.
• Working knowledge of GMP's, OSHA is preferred.
