Job summary

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. is seeking a sanitation associate to ensure the efficient cleaning of production equipment and nearby areas following approved sanitary methods.

The role involves lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing, using high-pressure hoses, and adhering to GMPs, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, and SQF requirements; safety and attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Forklift/pallet jack certification may be required.
• Good communication skills and clear working with team and QA.

Responsibilities

• Clean production equipment and surrounding areas using approved sanitary methods.
• Follow safety precautions and wear required PPE as directed.
• Assist with equipment teardown and reassembly for line restart.
• Operate or assist with power equipment and cleaning tools.
• Follow the 7 Steps of Sanitation to maintain high cleanliness standards.

Position Summary

Ensure the efficient and effective cleaning of production equipment and adjacent areas, in addition to other environments, following approved sanitary methods.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe use of appropriate chemical solutions to ensure the cleanest and most highly sanitized equipment
• Ensure that all necessary safety precautions are followed in performing your responsibilities
• Responsible for following through on projects assigned
• Cleans equipment by using hot water hoses and/or high pressure soap hoses with temperatures up to 160 degrees
• Lifts, carry, push or pull parts or equipment with weights up to 100 pounds or more
• Climb ladders to clean top of equipment, walls, overheads, ceilings, etc.
• Possible forklift/palletjack/manlift licensed for certain areas
• Tearing equipment down and assisting production to put line back together
• Works with soaps and other cleaning compounds, some toxic if not handled correctly
• Temperatures throughout plant average 50 degrees
• Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots or overshoes, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the Company
• Time sensitive work. Must work at a reasonable pace to ensure area is completed in a timely manner.
• Following the 7 Steps of Sanitation. Area/task completed will be pre-opted by lead/supervisor and member of QA to ensure area was cleaned to the highest standards.

Employee Safety Responsibilities

• Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and horseplay
• Use proper lifting techniques
• Use mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift)
• Use personal assistance (buddy)
• Use handrails
• Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Temperatures throughout plant average 50 degrees. Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the Company. Need to comply with Food Safety: GMP’S, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements.

• Continuously required to walk, stand, and handling – gross motor.
• Frequent reaching above shoulders and working with arms above or at shoulder height, body bending, hand twisting (both), and body twisting/rotating.
• Occasional Kneeling, stooping, crouching/squatting, climbing stairs, pushing or pulling 60 – 100 pounds up to 100ft, lifting 60-100 pounds up to a height of 3-5 ft. and fine motor of the fingers. Also able to work a handjack, manlift and forklift.
• Will be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants and working with power equipment. Also exposed to toxic chemicals.
• Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.
