Job summary

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. is seeking a production associate to monitor and assist the packaging line. You will spread and inspect products on a continually moving conveyor, remove scrap, and prepare goods for boxing while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

The role requires standing for long periods, adherence to GMPs and SOPs, and reporting any issues to a supervisor. OT opportunities are frequently available and the environment is cold and loud.

Qualifications

• Prefer High School Diploma/GED.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable and self-driven.
• Palletjack Certification for certain production workers.

Responsibilities

• Spread and inspect product on moving conveyor.
• Remove scrap from sides of conveyor and place in inedible barrel.
• Pack product on running conveyor into boxes weighing 9–35 pounds.
• Push boxes on conveyor to scale, seal with tape, and stack on skids 4–6 ft high.
• Move pallets to freezer using palletjacks and report issues to supervisor.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE as required.
• Lockout/Tagout procedures as needed.
• OT is often available.

Job description

Position Summary

Monitor the production process by spreading, inspecting and packing product.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must use both hands
• Will be standing by a continually moving conveyor to spread and inspect goods
• Remove scrap product from both sides of convey or belt and put into inedible barrel
• Product is packed off on a running conveyor into boxes weighing 9 to 35 pounds depending on product
• Boxes are then pushed down a running conveyor from scale, closed and pushed through tape machine and stacked on skids to a height of between 4-6 ft
• Product is then transferred to freezer by use of palletjacks
• Report any issues with product to lead/manager/supervisor
• Work as a team under supervisor of lead
• OT is often available
• When line is down sweep/clean production area
• Follow all safety rules and regulations per established company policies
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Follows established equipment Lockout/Tagout procedures as required

Employee Safety Responsibilities

• Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and horseplay
• Use proper lifting techniques
• Use mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift)
• Use personal assistance (buddy)
• Use handrails
• Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Temperatures throughout plant average 50 degrees. Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the Company. Need to comply with Food Safety: GMP’S, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements.

• Continuously required to stand.
• Frequent pushing or pulling up to 1080 pounds (with the use of a palletjack), lifting up to 50 pounds in a distance of 6ft. Carrying 10-50 pounds for a distance up to 10ft, Handling – gross motor and fine motor of the fingers.
• Occasional walking, reaching and working above shoulders, body bending, hand twisting, stooping, climbing stairs, and body twisting/rotating.
• Will be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants and working with power equipment.
• Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.
