Job summary

Caruso USA is seeking a Sanitation Technician to clean and sanitize equipment, machinery, and production areas in a food manufacturing setting, strictly following FDA/USDA standards and GMPs.

You will follow the Master Sanitation Schedule, disassemble/reassemble equipment for cleaning, handle cleaning chemicals safely, and help with logs, inspections, and changeovers to support production readiness while maintaining safety and hygiene.

Qualifications

• Prior sanitation/food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing: follow Master Sanitation Schedule to clean production lines, equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces.
• Equipment handling: disassemble/reassemble equipment for cleaning and operate industrial cleaning tools.
• Chemical use: safely mix, handle, and apply cleaning chemicals per SDS and procedures.
• Safety compliance: follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear PPE.
• Documentation and inspection: complete sanitation logs and assist with pre-operational inspections and swabbing.
• Waste management: collect and dispose of waste and recyclables.
• Hazard reporting: report safety hazards or non-compliance to a supervisor.
• Team collaboration: work with production/maintenance to support changeovers and reduce downtime.

The Sanitation Technician cleans and sanitizes food manufacturing equipment, machinery, and production areas while strictly following federal food safety regulations, including FDA and USDA standards, as well as company policies such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and sanitizing: Follow the Master Sanitation Schedule to complete routine and deep cleaning of production lines, equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces.
• Equipment handling: Disassemble and reassemble production equipment, including pumps, belts, and mixers, for cleaning and sanitizing. Operate industrial cleaning tools such as high-pressure hoses, floor scrubbers, and foam applicators.
• Chemical use: Safely mix, handle, and apply industrial-strength cleaning chemicals and sanitizers according to safety data sheets (SDS) and company procedures.
• Safety compliance: Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) during cleaning activities.
• Documentation and inspection: Accurately complete sanitation logs and checklists and assist with pre-operational inspections and swabbing to confirm equipment is clean and production ready.
• Waste management: Collect and properly dispose of waste, trash, and recyclables.
• Hazard reporting: Report safety hazards, spills, equipment damage, or sanitation non-compliance issues to a supervisor promptly.
• Team collaboration: Work with production and maintenance teams to support efficient changeovers and reduce production downtime.
• Experience: Previous sanitation, food manufacturing, or related industrial cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety programs, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP, strongly preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Prior experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, or a related industrial cleaning environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety programs, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP, is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulations, principles, and techniques related to environmental and public health is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively and prepare clear, concise reports.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and climb for the duration of a shift.
• Must be able to frequently lift 50–75 pounds.
• Must be able to work in wet, cold, hot, or noisy environments.
