Job summary

Publix Super Markets in Lakeland, FL is seeking a Department Manager to oversee daily plant operations and ensure GMPs and food safety standards are met. You will lead on-floor teams, schedule associates, review KPIs, and coordinate production planning in the absence of senior managers.

Candidates should possess leadership skills, be capable of training staff and maintaining equipment, with forklift certification and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.
• Must be able to plan, organize and follow‑through on assignments.
• Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Must demonstrate leadership skills and good attendance.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Participate on the floor with associates and cover for unplanned absences and vacations.
• Understand and maintain department reports and procedures.
• Coordinate breaks and lunch schedules.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment, PMs and work orders.
• Assist managers with scheduling of associates.
• Lead and drive improvement of plant operations.
• Analyze KPIs and data to improve performance.
• Perform day-to-day tasks of Department Manager/Asst. Department Manager in absences.
• Mentor staff through training (SBSs and JIT).
• Promote GMPs and enforce quality and food safety standards.
