Great things are happening at the Sister Schubert's Horse Cave Campusand as we continue to grow The MarzettiCompanyis looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence.The position ofSanitation Supervisor directs and coordinates the overall housekeeping and sanitation of food contact areas and manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance to required standards for cleanliness. Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.

Hours: This role will be a Weekend 3rd Shift Sanitation Supervisor position, providing leadership and oversight of sanitation operations during the weekend overnight shift.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supervises2-25 dept. employees.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of the sanitation department.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising and terminating employees; planning, assigning anddirecting work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.

  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shieldsandaprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in thefacility.
  • Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA andcompany requirements and standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of power equipment with proper documentation.
  • As a member of The Marzetti Company,completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO),correctsissues when identified,and participatesin problem solving.

  • Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
  • Directs and supervises sanitation employees.
  • Coordinatesthe master sanitation schedule/program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards.
  • Responsible for meeting established sanitation objectives and controls and minimizes the overtime labor costs, maintenance / repair costsand equipment downtime.
  • Works with HR for hiring, training and scheduling of production work force.
  • Responsible for and coordinates shift activities through planning and communication with employees to ensure all sanitation objectives areaccomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.
  • Ensures scheduling of the sanitation department.
  • Compiles required sanitation reporting accurately and timely.
  • Maintains close working relationship with all departments and responds to deviations from standards immediately.
  • Monitors CIP equipment to ensure proper operation by shift personnel.
  • Monitors the usage & storage of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and agents to ensure compliance to safety requirements & no unauthorizedaccess or usage occurs.
  • Coordinates with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble-free shift start-up.
  • Responsible for & maintains positive employee, corporate and community relations along with appropriate interface with customer service,vendors & contractors.
  • Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
  • Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management.
  • Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • Works in an office andmanufacturing environment where theTeam Memberis regularly required to speak, read,and comprehend, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb,and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be able to push/pull 150 pounds short distances.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds repetitively.
  • Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
  • SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards.Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of theTeam Member.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years sanitation/chemical usage and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably food-related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence.
  • Positive leadership and self-motivation skills. Strong organizational abilities, capable of multi-tasking.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing effective staffing, scheduling, budgets, CIP systems, equipment & chemical processes with proven troubleshooting and resolution aptitude.
  • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
  • BS Degree in Food Science, Sanitation with Chemical standards or equivalent preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.
