Overview

The Sanitation Manager, will drive the daily core sanitation activities while leading a team of hourly and salaried associates. Responsible for the efficient sanitation of production equipment, machinery, physical plant and grounds in accordance with all government, customer and company policies and procedures.

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 PM to 8:30 AM. Schedule may evolve based on business needs.

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees.
  • Responsible for meeting established objectives pertaining to plant goals and performance
  • Develops and monitors spending against the departmental budget.
  • Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
  • Acts as a business partner to management team to develop and implement initiatives to support overall mission of facilities.

  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields & and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the production area.
  • Performs proper housekeeping, uses appropriate personal protective equipment for tasks and ensures compliance for department.
  • Ensures compliance by providing a safe working environment including compliance with company policies, state, local and federal policies, and regulations.
  • Ensures company standards for cleanliness, food and equipment safety and efficient productivity.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, Food Defense, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy sanitation standards and ensure consistency of procedures throughout the site
  • Develop and implement a master sanitation program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards.
  • Set standards and maintain key metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities that mitigate risk
  • Lead employee training and coach on proper protocols and on-going maintenance of programs.
  • Educate and provide technical support to assure effective implementation of sanitation and food safety standards
  • Provide guidance and develop technical expertise of appropriate personnel regarding sanitation and hygienic design and controls
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement and improve sanitation programs, procedures, and metrics
  • Work with Corporate Food Safety audit team on elimination of Food Safety concerns.
  • Actively participate in internal and external audits including FSQS, BRC, Customer, Federal and State agency audits.
  • Liaise with Pest Control provider
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Food Science, Microbiology, or another technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the food industry with technical knowledge of core sanitation services, equipment, and methods including wet, dry, COP and CIP, validation, and verification of sanitation systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Broad knowledge of food manufacturing programs (HACCP, microbiology, pest control and quality systems)
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and requirements (FSMA, HACCP, GMP, USDA)
  • Ability to work and communicate across all levels of the organization

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, hear, sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend while moving about the facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to cold, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the office is quiet and moderate in the plant. Hairnets are required in the plant in accordance with GMP and safety standards.
